@wildsightings.cpm A group of fishermen rescued a drowning dog swimming a mile offshore. Arturo Chacon and friends were fishing off Cedros Island, Mexico, when they spotted an unlikely animal out to sea. Dramatic footage captured the moment the crew pulled alongside the stranded dog and worked quickly to get it onboard. Once rescued, they gave the hungry dog two burritos and took him back to the marina where he was returned to his owner. Arturo said: "We never expected that morning, instead of finding a fish, we would find a dog fighting to stay alive nearly a mile from shore. "When we found him, the situation became much more serious than we had imagined. This wasn’t a dog playing near the beach. "He was approximately one mile offshore in the Pacific Ocean, swimming alone and he looked exhausted. "There was no boat next to him. No person calling for him. Nothing that gave us any indication that he belonged out there. "We still don’t know exactly how he ended up so far offshore. There had been a thunderstorm that morning, so we wondered whether the loud thunder could have frightened him. "We carefully manoeuvred the boat alongside him and managed to bring him aboard. "He was obviously exhausted, so we gave him space, fresh water and a safe place aboard the boat. "Our captain had brought burritos for the fishing trip and he gave the dog two, and judging by how quickly he ate them, he was definitely hungry. "It was an incredible feeling to see him recovering right in front of us. "When we arrived back at the marina, a couple of guys at the dock immediately recognised him and knew who his owner was. "That was exactly what we had been hoping for. They took responsibility for getting him safely back to his owner." #dog #animalrescue #mexico #fishing #noAI ♬ original sound - Wild Sightings
